FAQs
July 29, 2008 – 1:09 pm
What program do i need to use these presets?
The presets are NOW AVAILABLE in both ACR and Lightroom format. Should you use both programs please request both formats at no extra charge.
How do i load them into ACR?
Please follow the instructions in the read me file that comes with your presets.
Will they work with Elements?
No. While it may be technically possible with advanced knowledge to modify them for elements, it is not recommended.
Can i edit Jpg files with these presets?
Yes, you can reconfigure your PS to open Jpg files in ACR, however due to in camera settings they will not give the same results.
The backlight presets are giving my photos a horribly oversaturated, blown look. What am i doing wrong?
The backlight set is designed specifically for backlit photos. These presets use a lot of fill light and funky colours to give you an arty finish. Some of the backlight presets will not work on portraits or front lit photos.
Do I need to do anything else, or just run a preset and have a finished product?
All the examples shown on this site are straight out of camera (sooc) with one chosen preset run over them, and no extra tweaking, except for sharpening and noiseware. It is possible to simply edit this way. Usually I polish my photos further by slightly adjusting the tabs in ACR after running a preset. Each photo is unique and requires some individual attention.
Why don’t my photos look exactly like yours after i run a preset?
Everybody sees the world and a subject individually. Give 5 photographers the same assignment and they will all come up with something completely different. You create your own vision in camera, the presets will help enhance this, but cannot change your composition, depth, focus or feeling. Presets are affected by your original exposure and colour settings in camera. If you don’t get the exact look you are after, but like the colours provided, tweak the other sliders in the basics tab to assist after running the preset.
These presets aren’t at all subtle, are they?
No they aren’t! They are bold, bright, saturated, arty. They won’t form a complete workflow for you, but they will give you a basis for turning chosen photos into something extra special. If you don’t like such vibrant colours and photo art, then these presets aren’t going to make you happy.
How do I buy them?
Click on the Paypal link, and pay the required amount for your chosen set / sets. Presets will be emailed out to you within 24 hours of payment usually much sooner. If you do not receive them in this time period please check your junk folder incase your computer inadvertently sent them there. Presets will be emailed out to the address specified in paypal.

The Sets
July 29, 2008 – 10:01 am
I currently have 3 sets available for purchase.
The Backlight Set
This is my signature set, featuring 13 different presets for BACKLIT photos ONLY. Bring your wide angle backlit photos to life with a stunning range of colour choices, from vibrant to vintage, black and white to sepia tones. Use the presets as a starting point to create magic. Tweak the preset to your photos needs.
Hints - Your choice of exposure when taking your photo will effect the look of the preset. Should it appear too light or dark, simply adjust exposure, black point and fill light.
The Basic Set
This set features 19 presets that are more general in use. Experiment with them on all types of photos, to enhance colour, exposure, add vignettes, and create toned or vintage looks.
Hints - Experiment by running each preset over a photo until you find one that looks amazing. Due to the different conditions, light, and subjects, not every preset will be right for every photo. Presets are not a ‘one size fits all’ solution, but rather a wonderfully easy way to discover new looks and techniques, as well as a simple and quick way to begin editing.
The Beach Set
I love to shoot in the late afternoon sunshine. These presets are designed for shots that are not backlit, but rather the subject or location is being illuminated from the front or side by the sun. Featuring a range of fun and funky colours, from gentle light and colour to high contrast and saturation, these will be a hit with anyone who shoots outdoors and wants to give their photos an arty look.
Hint - If a preset makes the edges of your photo too dark for your taste, check the vignette tab and drag it to the right until you get a more evenly lit photo.
Buy Now - please ensure you note your selections and totals and enter the total at the top of the paypal screen, and the sets ordered in the summary screen that appears after payment.
